The JSON file of the “A List Whose Pictures Speak Too” example. A parts list whose first column is a picture rather than a word. Each picture carries the sentence somebody hears in its place, so nothing in the list is lost on a reader who cannot see it. On the page, the pictures are simply pictures.

This file is a request: an application sends it over the network to the server, which creates the PDF and sends it back. It creates the same page as the Rust and Python versions of this example. A request names every file it uses, never its content; the call carries the request and the files together. A font the server already holds, such as DejaVuSans, is named with nothing attached. Send the request to the address the API page gives.

The library draws the heading and the page number one line at a time, naming the font before saying where the line sits; the request asks for each of them as a small block of text that states where its own first line goes. The hidden copy of the page is opened a shade earlier around the heading in the library's file than in this one, and is read the same way either way. The library also records the document under a title; a request states a title along with everything else a file says about itself, and this one says nothing about itself, so its file is recorded under no name. None of that is drawn on the page, and the two documents match to the dot.

This request names files it does not carry: hqf_development.png, indexed_16colours.png, logo.png. Each one travels beside the request, in the same call, as a supplied part named exactly as the request names it here — the description says which name plays which role, so you name your files as you like. A request naming a file the call carries nothing of is refused.

What This Example Is For

Read a parts list down the telephone and you say what each picture shows: the lid, the rating plate, the little heat gauge. Software reading a document aloud says nothing at all, because a picture is only a picture to it — and in a list where the picture is the column that tells one article from another, that is not a lost decoration. It is the whole row going silent.
