Conditions of sale
They are short, and there is no other document behind them.
Who may buy
What is sold here is sold to companies and to self-employed people, in the course of their trade.
By ordering, you state that you are ordering for your business, and that whoever placed the order was entitled to place it.
What is sold
A monthly subscription to the service, which runs on our machines: you send what a document should say, and the finished PDF comes back.
A licence to the PDF library, paid once, with no end date and no count of machines. Corrections and lesser versions are free for life; when a new major version comes out, an owner pays 50% of what their own licence cost them rather than the whole price of a new one.
A licence to the server together with that library, on the same terms, to be installed on your own machines.
Prices and payment
Every price shown on this site is in euros and before tax. The payment page works out the tax due and adds it, and the invoice carries both figures.
Payment is by card, on a page held by our payment provider, Stripe: no card number ever reaches this site. Stripe is also who works out the tax due for your country and writes it on your invoice. For the two licences bought outright, you may ask for an invoice and pay it by bank transfer instead; the licence is delivered once the money has arrived.
A published price may change at any time, and neither an order already placed nor a subscription already running is touched by it: the price that binds an order is the one shown when you place it.
Three things govern payment, and every invoice carries them: when it is to be paid, what a late payment costs, and the fixed sum owed for recovering it. The list below gives them, in the words of your own invoice.
If what a subscription already running pays is to change, you are told in writing sixty days before the new figure applies, and you may stop at the end of the month in progress with nothing further owed.

Delivery
There is nothing to ship. A subscription is opened by us once your payment is in, and you are written to at that moment, with the account ready to create documents.
A licence bought outright is delivered the moment the card goes through: the download link is on the screen at once, and the same page sends it to any address you give it.
Your invoice is in your account on this site, and we send it to you by email once your payment is in. The licence key is put in your account beside the invoice. It takes off the watermark that a PDF created without a licence carries on every page.
How long a subscription lasts, and how to stop it
A subscription runs month by month. It renews until you stop it, and you stop it by writing to us: it then runs to the end of the month already paid for and is not renewed. There is no notice to give and no month to pay beyond that one.
A month already begun is not refunded, whether or not any document was made in it.
What a licence allows, and what it does not
A licence lets your business use the engine, on as many machines as it likes, inside your own products and for the documents you send your own customers. It does not let you resell the engine itself, hand it on, rent it out, or publish it.
The engine stays ours. What you buy is the right to use it, not the ownership of it.
The code of the examples published on this site is another matter altogether: use it in your own programs, change it, ship it, with nothing to carry and nobody to credit. What is not allowed is publishing the collection itself somewhere else.
Your documents, and what happens to them
On the service, what you send is used to create the document you asked for and for nothing else. It is not read, not kept beyond what the request needs, and never handed to anybody.
Buy the library or the server and the question does not arise: nothing leaves your machines, because there is nothing in them that would send it.
The same request gives the same file
Send the same request twice and you get the same document back, to the byte. This is a contractual undertaking we hold ourselves to for good: a document carries no hidden clock, no number drawn at random, and nothing whose order depends on the machine it was created on.
Two things you ask for suspend it, and only these two: a field that asks us for the moment the document is made, which is that moment and never twice the same; and a lock your request poses without stating the encryption key it must use, which we then draw at random. State the date, state the key, and the undertaking above holds whole.
It holds for what we have not written yet as much as for what is written: anything added later is held to it too.
It is what lets you check a document against one you already hold, keep the request instead of the file, and create the same document again years later and know it is the same one.
What we answer for
The software is supplied to do what these pages say it does. What it does not do is written down as plainly as what it does, and you are asked to read that before buying.
We do not answer for what your own programs do with it, nor for a document whose figures were wrong before they reached us. Whatever the claim, what can be asked of us is capped at the price you paid for what the claim is about.
Nothing here sets aside a right the law gives you that cannot be set aside.
Who answers you, and what happens if the service stops
HQF Development answers you in writing, during French working hours, unless a company contract agreed with you says otherwise: such a contract can cover every day of the week, from 7 am to 11 pm.
The service that runs on our machines can stop, and nothing here undertakes how much of the time it answers, nor how long it takes to come back. Neither is measured today, so no figure is published for either.
What you buy outright is untouched by that: the library and the server run on your own machines, and they go on creating documents while ours are stopped.
Which law, and which court
French law governs these terms. If a disagreement cannot be settled between us, it goes to the courts of Aix-en-Provence.
