The JSON file of the “A Document That Reads Freely and Asks Not to Be Copied” example. A page that opens without a password and prints like any other, but asks the reading software to forbid copying and pasting its text. The text is encrypted in the file: a program reading it byte by byte finds no sentence in it.

JSON 474 lines

This file is a request: an application sends it over the network to the server, which creates the PDF and sends it back. It creates the same page as the Rust and Python versions of this example. A request names every file it uses, never its content; the call carries the request and the files together. A font the server already holds, such as DejaVuSans, is named with nothing attached. Send the request to the address the API page gives.

What This Example Is For

Think of a price list left on the counter of a shop. Anybody may pick it up, read it and take it home: that is what it is there for. What you would rather not see is your own paragraphs turning up word for word in somebody else's brochure a fortnight later. The file below is that price list. It opens for everybody, and it carries a written request that its text be left alone.
