Fonts Carried Whole

Carry a light font whole, every letter it holds, rather than only the letters the pages show.

Summary

A font goes into a document cut down to the letters its pages show, which keeps the file light. Name a weight, and a font file no heavier than it goes in whole instead: whoever later types into a form field of the document, or edits it, finds every letter the font has.

Technically

Written at the top level of a request, under "whole_font_ceiling"

whole_font_ceiling is a weight in bytes, compared with the font file as the request sends it. A file no heavier is embedded with every glyph of its program; a heavier one is cut down to the glyphs the pages draw, as every font is when the key is absent. Only a face read from a file is reached: a standard face, a font the request draws itself and a Type 1 program are left as they are.

Request Schema

  • whole_font_ceiling — integer, optional, absent by default. A weight in bytes.

Scope: every font of the request read from a file.

A Whole Request That Creates a PDF

One name below stands for a font file: put the encoded file in its place, or send the file itself beside the description, as a supplied part of the same call. One page carries a real font already encoded, and its request posts as it stands.
