A picture fitted into a box

One picture fitted into a box of one size eight ways: brought to four different sizes, stood against an edge, turned by a quarter and by an angle of its own, and mirrored — every panel drawn from the placement the rule worked out.

This one is not a program. It is the request the document server is sent: the same page, asked for over the network by an application that writes no PDF code at all.

The library draws the title and the eight captions one line at a time, naming the lettering before saying where the line sits, and leaving the title in the colour already in hand; the request asks for each of them as a small block of text that names its own colour and states where its own first line goes. The eight frames around the panels are stated as ready-made rectangles on one side and walked corner by corner on the other. Every picture is laid down by the very same placement on both sides, to the last figure, and the two sheets match to the dot.
