Each price is written twice. The first figure, marked excl. tax, is the price before tax. The second, marked incl. tax, is that price with the tax a company in France pays added to it, at 20%; a company registered for VAT claims that tax back, so the first figure is what it ends up paying. For a buyer outside France, no French tax is added when they give a European VAT number or stand outside the European Union, and the invoice says which of the two it is.
